Genshin Impact has received criticism from the community. Impact’s latest outfits as an alternative due to concerns over censorship.
A lot of gamers aren’t happy with the fact that their games are censored unnecessarily which is why it’s an issue of great interest. In the case of Genshin Impact, some characters have recently received new clothes. The new outfits are more modest than the original designs , however they are not required for the majority of players.
However, they’re not a requirement to Chinese players. Since miHoYo is an Chinese company and a lot of Travelers fear that their future designs may be restricted to appease the current political climate.
Censorship within Genshin Impact via alternate outfits
Most Travelers received the latest alternate outfits via the game’s mail. To get it you must:
- Start the character menu.
- Click on the hanger to hang clothes icon.
- Dress in the appropriate outfit at the Dressing Room.
- Simply click on “Switch” for saving the file.
The costumes, which are optional (for servers outside China) are free to players from all over the world and are also available to all players in the future. The following characters have received the costumes recently:
- Amber
- Jean
- Mona
- Rosaria
The four new costumes were created in order to give the character a appear less sexy than before. In essence, there’s no emphasis on cleavage , or derrieres. It is unclear if the next characters are going to undergo a complete overhaul like the four shown.
Travelers can still purchase the clothes even if they don’t have the character. They have the same default icon for the other attire inside the Dressing Room. Each costume comes with a distinct description than the default outfit.
The tweet above depicts the old outfits side by side with the latest outfits. The tweet shows a front and an back image of four characters. Travelers ought to be used to these types of designs (even even if they do not like these designs) since they will be used by the NPC models of the characters are expected to feature these designs in the future.
The most important aspect of the image above is the second part. The NPC models that include Jean, Amber, Rosaria and Mona will continue to use their alternate Outfits for Genshin Impact 2.5 and beyond. This change also impacts cutscenes in animation.
It’s important to note that this change impacts all players in Genshin Impact. The change only alters the design that are used in those who play NPC models of the characters however it’s technically still a type of censorship that’s got players discussing the issue.
Other minor censorships within Genshin Impact
Other forms of censorship are less significant than alterations to a person’s clothes. The tweet above is a perfect example of this, as Ningguang’s shoulder blades are smoothed in their new appearance. The changes are visible in the game which is causing discontent among fans in certain parts.
It is interesting to note that characters like Eula remain with shoulders that were originally theirs. It’s not known what characters will be the first to have this removed at some point in the near future but it’s a matter of concern to certain fans.
The subject of censorship within Genshin Impact is divisive, since real people are in love with the new costumes. The most recent design changes reveal that certain features of the game may be modified for future versions regardless of region.
